My morning cuppa

On my way to work this morning, I decided to treat myself to a cup of coffee from one of the best coffee places in San Francisco, which happens to be right across from my office, Piccino. I went in and ordered — a soy latte with an extra shot — and Brian, the barrista, nodded his usual nod and kept working on the other orders before mine. I went outside and pet two adorable pit bull mixes who were tied up outside waiting for their owners and then went back into the shop, where I waited another 10 minutes or so. I’m not complaining. It’s a great cafe — good atmosphere, a real neighborhood spot. I also had time to grab this publication called Edible San Francisco, which lists all of the farmers markets in town and tells you which local restaurants are sustainable. I’m pretty interested in the whole green and local movement and would love to become part of a community farm. The magazine features one called Live Power Community Farm. I may have to check it out. The photos of the fresh veggies made my mouth water. Anyway, to get back to my point, when I finally got my mitts on the soy latte with an extra shot, Brian told me the total would be $4.75. Yowzers. And of course, since he’s an artist with coffee and milk substitutes, I needed also to tip him. In total, my Valentine’s Day treat to myself cost me $5.75. If that’s not something that people can laugh about when they want to laugh at the rediculosity of city people, I don’t know what is. But let me just say for the record, the coffee is DEEELICIOUS. If you’re curious about local food, food writers, recipes, etc., check out Edible San Francisco.
