I came across these stencils on my way to the yarn store and thought they were curious enough to warrant pulling out my phone camera and snapping ‘em.

Art on the cheap

I’m always looking for cool art to put on my walls — or, more precisely, to collect, frame and then think about putting on my walls but in the meantime, lean up against a wall.  In any case, I usually try to collect things that have some kind of meaning to me — artwork from artists I know or something that touches me in some intangible way (like my Robinson Crusoe Kitty piece by Lynda Barry). But as I was doing my monthly reading of Oprah magazine, I came across the link to the website Tiny Showcase. The site offers limited edition prints by up-and-coming artists for cheap. I found the latest offering, a triptych by artists Lisa Solomon and Aurora Robson.

Of course, Tiny is all sold out of these ($40 each). Not that it matters since my bank account is in the red at the moment. The best part is that all proceeds go to a charity of the artist’s choosing. Very interesting indeed.
